A New Year Approaches |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sporting Clays: The sporting clays season has been a another great success. A lot of work was done in the woods to open up shooting lanes and make target presentation some of the best in upstate NY. Special thanks to Russ McKittrick, Ray Majka, Vic Broccoli and everyone who spent the time and manpower to better our Sporting Clays course. The Sporting Clays clinic was also a great success, 12 people took part in this one day event and everyone walked away a better Sporting Clays shooter. Again thank you to the instructors who volunteered their time for this all day event. | Skeet: This game has really taken off in the last year. The fields are always full and more and more people are enjoying this game. The skeet clinics that were held this year has helped a lot of the new shooters to better enjoy this game. We have been talking about holding a non-registered skeet tournament to better promote this game. If you are interested please let the board know. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5-Stand - Still one of the greatest games around. The 5-Stand presentations got mixed up this year so everyone saw new and exciding target combinations. Don't get use to them, we figured out how easy it is to change them. | Trap: Still a favorite among a lot of us. With the different games that can be played from regular trap to scrap trap (shooting trap from the skeet pads) there is a lot of fun to be had with this old favorite. Oh and lets not forget partners trap and you better get a partner you like shooting with. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clinics/Camps: This year we held a number of skeet clinics, a Sporting Clays clinic, a Ladies skeet day and the youth skeet camp. All in an effort to bring the shooting sports to as many people as possible. The clinics and camps where a great success with everyone coming away a better shooter or have their first experience with the shooting sports a positive one. Thank you to all the instructors and volunteers who donated their time to make these events possible. | Rental Property: We have two great new tenants in the rental property. A young couple has moved in and are doing great. If you happen to see them around the property introduce yourself and welcome them to the club. A special thank you to all the hard working volunteers for spending hours and hours cleaning, painting, repairing and just helping to get the place ready for the new tenants. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Rifle Range/General Rules: Please follow all
rifle range rules to the letter. Shoot safely, clean up after your done
and do not drive on the grass to get the shooting benches.
**PLEASE** No bottles, cans or junk of any kind is to be used as
targets. Rules for Rifle Range, General Conduct, Off Hours Shooting and General Safety Rules can be found on the website in the 'About The Club section. |
Off Hour Shooting: There has been a lot of talk about off hours shooting. Here are the basic rules. Off hour shooting is allowed for all rifle and pistol shooting based on the standard hours and that there are no scheduled events. Skeet/Trap shooting is by appointment only. Please contact Ray Majka at least 24hrs in advanced and he will open up the skeet/trap houses for you. This gives the club better control on targets and equipment use, helping us cut costs in the long run. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Audit An internal audit was asked for by our new treasurer Bruce Wellman. With this being Bruce's first year in office two members spent the time to review the treasurers books. Wally Johnson and Matt Wolf reported all things are in order and Bruce is doing a very good job. Thank you Wally and Matt for taking the time to review the clubs financial records. | WFXV (Fox) Cliff Crandall from CNY Homepage does a safety awareness TV show on WFXV( Fox) and he came out to the club in Nov and did taped two segments, one on Hunter Safety and one on Skeet shooting. Ray Majka and David Cruger took part in these two segments. The Hunter Safety program aired on Sat 12/7 and Sun 12/8. If you missed the show we have a copy on our website under the Gallery section and there will be a copy at the club. The skeet segment will air sometime in Jan keep an eye out for them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
