CLINTON FISH & GAME CLUB NEWSLETTER
APRIL 2004
The snow is gone and its time for sporting clays through the woods. The sporting clays shoot schedule is as follows: 4/18, 4/25, 5/16, 5/23, 6/6, 6/20, 7/4, 7/18, 8/1, 8/15, 8/29, 9/12, 9/26, 10/3, & 10/17. Some of the shooting dates listed may be held as 100 bird shoots or trophy shoots. There is also a Sporting Clays Summer League that will be held. See the insert included with this newsletter for more details on the league.
Thursday night shooting will begin again starting April 15. Shooting will take place from 5:00 pm till dark. The skeet, trap and 5-stand will be opened depending on the number of people who show up to shoot and the weather. A Thursday night 5-stand league may be held if there is enough interest. If you are interested please see John La Porte at the club on Sundays or Thursday nights, or you can reach him via the contact information listed below.
Now that spring has finally arrived, and summer is not far behind, it is time to start thinking about improvements that need to be done to the club property. The list of improvements needed includes: road & parking lot repairs, downed tree removal, stump removal, hydro washing of the club house exterior, shooting fields (skeet and 5-stand) cleanup, woods trail & course cleanup, rifle range cleanup, garage and warehouse cleanup, trap repair and cleanup, and shooting cage repairs (both 5-stand and sporting clays). If you can help, either by giving your time or lending equipment, it would be appreciated. See Dave Parda, or John La Porte if you can help.
It was decided at the last club meeting on March 30th, that the club would start looking into the possibility of paving the driveway and the parking lot. Joe Cifarelli will be acquiring quotes from three reputable companies. This expense would require the club to acquire a mortgage from a lending institution. Other major improvements / purchases being considered are: a new lawnmower, a snow blower, building an enclosed office within the clubhouse, and concreting the skeet field shooting arches.
All members are urged to attend the next club meeting on April 27th so that these improvements can be discussed further and action can be taken on them.
The combination to the club door has been changed. If you use the club during the off shooting hours and need access to the clubhouse, you will have to speak to Joe Cifarelli to obtain the combination.
All members are asked to treat the club property as if it was their own. Don’t leave garbage lying around the shooting stations, the warehouse, or the clubhouse. Trash should be placed in an appropriate trashcan or the dumpster. Don’t throw your empty hulls on the ground, throw them in the trash or if they are good to use for reloading, put them in a box in the clubhouse. Please use good judgment when using the club’s facilities. If the fields are wet, don’t drive across them to leave mud trails. This goes not only for your own personal vehicle, but for the club’s golf carts and EZ-Go carts too. The same applies to the road through the woods.
SEE YOU AT THE CLUB – NEXT CLUB CLUB MEETING IS APRIL 27TH, 2004, 7:00PM
